It’s so weird how the 2mm are working for some people but not others. My personal 3080 FE has been rock solid ever since I replaced the front with 2mm Gelid Extreme pads. My gpu and memory temps are totally fine in games and mining.
That being said, I think the front in particular would do well with the 1.5mm since we don’t necessarily need to compress the pads much, whereas the backside does well with some extra thickness and compression against the backplate.
